Doesn't work. But i'm not the only one, this let's player has the same issues: This is exactly my problem. It is a well known bug, that will be fixed by the currently in developement fan translation. But i hoped someone else found a way to fix it already.
That being said, i have a ver very old Laptop from 2008 running this game (i'm not a PC gamer). You may not have these issues because your more powerful hardware. Again: This is all because of a shader bug stressing the video card and since i have an old card it's very apparent. The translation works with the Chinese and Japanese version.
You need to first patch the PSP game's ISO, then extract the translated script files and put it into the right folder. The Japanese PC version has a shader bug that makes loading times between screens aggravatingly long. But it's the only version where the voice patch works in tandem with the translation patch.
The Chinese version has extreme DRM, but the shader bug seems to have been fixed. The voice patch doesn't work if you use the English patch on that version.
ALSO: So far the questlog does cause a crash, so you need to check the quests online somehow to not miss any. Maybe it has been fixed already!? It's been a while since i looked into it. Either way: The PC versions are just fine, the character portraits in high resolution are really nice to look at in comparison to the upscaled ones if you use the PPSSPP emulator.
